AMSTERDAM - Dutch financial company ING Groep NV said it plans to lodge an appeal with the European Union over the way the European Commission calculated the amount of state aid it received.

"ING and the Dutch state agreed upon a reduction of the repayment premiums which the European Commission sees as extra state aid, and we contest this," ING said Thursday .
